A trip to the south of Poland will enable one to learn the tastes and smells of Malopolska and spend time together in an interesting way.
The “Visit at the beekeeper’s” programme is organised in the largest private beekeeping open-air museum in Poland. The museum is adorned with beautiful two-metre-high sculpted beehives.
Once there, the participants are invited to taste various types of honey. The programme includes a presentation of honey production and visiting the beekeeping museum. Dinner for the visitors consists of dishes made with honey, accompanied by honey beer or traditional Polish mead.
Later we will drive to Lacko to visit a local producer of natural fruit, vegetable juices and alcoholic drinks. These products have been awarded numerous awards. It will be a late afternoon meeting in the open air. The participants will taste ecological wines, cider and distillates, such as world famous sliwowica (kind of plum brandy).
The next day starts with a lesson on how to make pierogi (dumplings). In order to make them you first need flour and eggs. Before the participants start “cooking” they have to go to the market to get fresh eggs. Then they start making the dough. How about the filling? There are lots of options such as cheese, meat, cabbage, mushrooms or fruit. Once the pierogi is ready, it’s time for the most pleasant part – the tasting. This is best done in the open air, weather permitting.
After there is a trip around the neighbourhood featuring a visit to the senior shepherd. Here the participants can see other attractions, such as the pasture, sheep, a highland farmer and junior shepherds. The guests are taken to the mountains in off-road cars. The senior shepherd’s cottage features a presentation of traditional highland cheese production and cheese tasting.
At the end, the participants reach Zakopane and go on ride in horse carriages around the town and take part in a highlander feast with traditional dishes, beverages, songs and dances in a restaurant offering a beautiful view of the Tatra Mountains.
