World Youth Days 2016

31st World Youth Days will be held in Krakow on 25 July till 1 August 2016. It is an international Catholic  event for the young. It will be the second World Youth Day celebrated in Poland. It is going to be a tribute to Saint John Paul II, canonized on 27 April 2014.

There are four possible locations to celebrate during World Youth Day 2016: Blonia (park close to the city center), Pobiednik airport, fields in Brzegi and Przylasek Rusiecki. The Stations of the Cross are said to be held in Lagiewniki at the Divine Mercy Shrine.

The committee of World Youth Day 2016, still thinks about the place where will be celebrated the biggest, Saturday-Sunday meeting between the young with Pope Francis. On 31 July 2016, Pope will celebrate a Mass for more than 2 million members from around the world.

It is said that the meeting will take place at 260-acre meadow in Brzegi next to Krakow. There is not large enough and prepared land in Krakow, where so many people could be safely gathered. An advantage of Brzegi is existing around communication infrastructure.
